i don't know about you...but genevieve gorder is pretty much my design idol...like since trading spaces days. i loooove hgtv, but dear, genevieve is one of only two shows (secrets from a stylist!) that i actually record aaaand pause, rewind, repeat. i love her space planning, use of unique vintage pieces, playful attitude and just overall fresh design aesthetic. aaaanyway, she has a new line of gorgeous rugs coming out over at capel rugs and i am beyond excited! i'm kind of in love with bokrum blue uzbek, which one is your favorite?

la sirena

since i can remember, i've always had a love for mermaids. the little mermaid is my favorite disney movie of all time and if you asked me what i wanted to be when i grew up at the age of five, i would have told you i would be a ballerina or a mermaid. i still have a fascination with them, but interior design has taken me down a different career path :)

current obsession: hair-on-hide

since i began working at lunaria last summer i've developed a fascination with hide accessories - from natural cowhide rugs + outrageously colored patchwork rugs to wall-covering, pillows and hide upholstery...i'm obsessed with it all. i recently found this company who designs incredible cowhide leather rugs, wall-coverings, upholstery, furniture and art...so fab.

i got it at ross

today i made a little stop at the local ross in napa...i don't typically find any winners there but julianna keeps telling me not to give up on ross and i do love a good deal so i haven't given up yet. well, today i hit the jackpot...


love these pretty sets of lead crystal stemware made in france. i'd use the charcoal for iced tea or water and the orange would be fun for mimosas during brunch - just $8 per set of six!

 

 
a bamboo coffee/accent table in black for $35. i'd remove the wicker top, paint it black or go for an entirely different color and refinish the whole piece.

these black "leather" chairs were extremely comfortable. i'm not big on black leather, but for $40 each these could easily be recovered.

my favorite find of the day...the chinese garden stools for $30 a piece. i had such a hard time leaving these beauties behind...

hammocks & high tea

i'm loving the name of this great shop - for me it evokes the feeling of a lazy summer afternoon, lounging under the sun with a yummy glass of iced tea (with lemon please).

hammocks & high tea's beautiful island inspired graphic prints (think ikat + chevron...love) adorn organically scented drawer liners + sachets, luxurious placemats + napkins and sweet tea towels. all products are eco-friendly, as hammocks & high tea always uses soy-based inks and recycled paper or cotton. i'm definitely going to snag a couple lemon verbena/lemongrass scented sachets for my closet!

color scheme

i'm currently working on a pillow grouping that must involve the color orange/persimmon and must be created only with pillows that are currently for sale at my work. here is what i've come up with so far...

scrabble

i'm not really one for board games. i did play a lot of candyland when i was little, but that's only because i wanted to be princess lolly and queen frostine. i am however a huge fan of scrabble and i'm an even bigger fan of using wooden scrabble tiles laid out in adorable phrases as whimsical accents around the home. check it...

i'm a huge fan of wall decals and i just found this little etsy shop thats filled with adorable graphics! i love them all so much i honestly can't choose a favorite...but i'd definitely like to have the winter trees in my next apartment.

cut a rug

during design school...rugs and lighting were honestly the last things i thought about when cramming to get a project done for finals. now since working at lunaria i've been introduced to the wonderful world of decorative lighting and the endless possibilities there are for rug customization. im currently in love with wood grain rugs, but i just came across this website which carries incredible hand-tufted wool designs. i'm pining over the birch/evening, betty/honey and the rosa/wine. who knew rugs could be so fabulous?

ya know? i was thinking after i posted that link to those adorable cupcake pedestals over at modern chic home...and i'm pretty sure those cute little things could also be great pillar candle holders. then i thought...you could actually use pillar candle holders as cupcake pedestals too - how functional!! for an adorable/edible center piece place cupcakes along this nature inspired branch holder from target. or try a grouping of these lovely glass pillars (also from target) topped with your delicious treats at your next birthday bash. there are so many incredible + affordable candle holders out there...get creative!

cozy sheets

for me january is a month of organizing, decluttering and regrouping. its a fresh start and for me that means its a great time to purchase new bedding! i love bedding. seriously, what is sweeter than sliding into a fabulous bed after a long day? especially a long chilly day when you can turn on your heating blanket too! check out these charming colorful options from anthropologie...they are a little pricey, but i can't help myself.

p.s. how amazing is the web design over at anthropologie? i'd kill for a similar blog layout...

okay...i'm obsessed. i was just given a beautiful 100% silk drapery panel that i plan to hang in my bedroom and swag to the side. i'm in the middle of searching for a rod, finials and a tie-back and i came across this amazingness from urban outfitters.

the love shop

as i was blogging this evening i came across a post from decor8 about the love shop on etsy and i fell in love. the prints all have such positive messages, i'm especially obsessed with the "do what you ♥" print. the prices are great and they can custom size the prints for you too! as jj says, "make it your mantra to do what you love and be happy!"
